Village Meetings/Events/Organizations

There are many activities going on in the Village of Bosque Farms. I thought I would mention a few of them, just for information purposes. If I missed any, my apologies.

Village Meetings/Events

Village Council Meetings - the third Thursday of every month at the Village Council Chambers

Planning and Zoning Commission Meetings - the first Monday of each month at the Village Council Chambers

The Police Department has periodic seminars offered to the public to inform them of various safety related topics. These are very informative and well worth the time to attend. Thanks to the police officers that put these seminars together. Excellent job!

The Community Center has regular activities for our seniors, including bingo, classes, lunches, trips, and other functions. The Community Center has been used for the Summer Youth Program as well. The Community Center also sponsors an Arts and Crafts Show a couple times a year, including one the first weekend in August, coinciding with the Bosque Farms Community Fair, and one just before Thanksgiving.

The Library has a summer reading program with bicycle give-a-ways, as well as other special events for our youth. The Friends of the Library sponsor a book selling table at the Library to raise funds for the Library.

The Bosque Farms Fair occurs the first weekend of August every year. It is rumored that this is the oldest town fair in the State, and possibly the country. The 2019 Bosque Farms Fair was the 80th annual event! There are many activities associated with the Fair, including a parade, agricultural exhibits and competitions, baking competitions, art competitions, a chili competition, a car show, activities for kids, a horseshoe pitching contest, an auction, a cake walk, a toad race, a dance,  and a Queen's competition. Support the Fair, and keep it going! The Fair produces a booklet every year that details the schedule of events, rules, and other information. It also includes advertising from local businesses. I am in the process of scanning the booklets that I can locate from past Fairs and making them available to anyone that wants to download them. Check out my Bosque Farms Fair web page here - Go to Bosque Farms Fair.

The Village has a Keep Bosque Farms Beautiful campaign twice a year to foster cleanup activities, along with a barbeque picnic.

The Bosque Farms Elementary School has occasional functions, such as a spaghetti dinner to raise funds for special purchases at the school. They have a reader board at the school that announces these activities.

The Bosque Farms Rodeo Association (BFRA) sponsors many events throughout the year, and also plays host to events sponsored by outside organizations. They have rodeos, horse shows, and various functions in their Cowboy Hall.

Organizations

The Yucca Little League is based in Bosque Farms. They start their baseball and girl's softball season in February with tryouts, and continue through July for All-Stars. This is a great organization for the youth of our community, but also serves the area of Peralta, Valencia, and the east side of Los Lunas.

The Bosque Farms 4-H Club is very active in Bosque Farms and meets at the Community Center the first Tuesday of each month.

The Bosque Farms Fair Board organizes the Bosque Farms Fair. They are a non-profit organization.

There are local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troups in Bosque Farms.

The Friends of the Library Association supports our Village Library.

There is a Bosque Farms Business Development Group that meets periodically to discuss economic development issues.

The Bosque Farms Rodeo Association (BFRA) has a wonderful facility adjacent to the Village Recreation Complex and the Community Center. They have all manner of horse and rodeo activities. They are a non-profit entity. Check out their web site at: http://www.bosquefarmsrodeo.org
